How many times can I change workplace?

E-9 workers cannot change company freely. But it is not impossible. You need a reason set by law, and you must keep to the number of times and the deadlines. If the reason is accepted as not the worker's fault, such as a shutdown or closure, it is not counted in the number of times.

There are two deadlines

• You must apply to change workplace within 1 month from the day your labor contract ends.
• After you apply, you must receive permission to change workplace within 3 months.
• If you miss even one of the two, you become subject to departure.
• If you could not apply because of an accident at work, illness, pregnancy or childbirth, the period is counted from the day that reason ended.

Do I need the employer's consent

A workplace change for E-9 is judged by the reasons set by law and the supporting evidence. If the reason is accepted as not the worker's fault, you can apply even if the employer does not agree. If the employment change report has not been made, or the employer refuses, ask the employment center or 1350.
