The insurance your city already bought for you
The day we opened the government source and matched the numbers. This is not a labor attorney's review.
Many cities and counties take out citizen safety insurance for their residents. The city or county pays the premium. Registered foreigners are included in many places.
Enrollment is automatic — payment is not
Examples that include registered foreigners
- Seoul — every resident registered in Seoul, including registered foreigners, enrolled automatically
- Incheon — including registered foreigners and overseas Koreans with residence reports, enrolled automatically
- Yongin — including foreigners, enrolled automatically
Even if your city is not listed here, you may be covered. Search “시민안전보험” on your city or county website.
What does it cover?
It differs by city. Natural disasters, fires and public transport accidents are common items. Limits differ by city and change every year, so we do not copy them here.
